Groupon Shoppers Get a Dose of Vitamin G

If your mother stuffs vitamins in your stocking this year at Christmas, you’re not alone.
You’ll be joining about 8,000 people who purchased vitamins through daily deal site Groupon’s Grouponicous holiday promotion, which features deals that are chosen for their “giftability.”
Groupon said it sold a record 1.9 million deals from Black Friday through Cyber Monday, with 650,000 of them through Grouponicus. That’s a 500% increase in sales for Grouponicus since last year.
The Chicago-based company on Wednesday released some of its biggest holiday deal hits, including custom-printing services through Vistaprint, which was the third most popular deal over the weekend. Overall, personal beauty seemed to lead the charge in gifts: the company sold 90,000 deals for manicures, 25,000 deals for “back, scalp and soul” massages, and 8,000 deals for facials.
Another popular gift was a Coz-e Heated Blanket with sleeves. Groupon said its subscribers scooped up 9,000 of those. Another 17,000 people purchased some sort of car washing package.
For the slightly more sentimental, Groupon sold more than 5,000 Sonny Bloggie Touch Cameras through a Cyber Monday promotion.
And for the adventurous, Groupon said it’s most popular local deal was from GT Dream Cars in New Jersey. “More than 860 shoppers grabbed the opportunity for a loved one to race an Aston Martin or Lamborghini for just $59,” the company said.
